The Committee of Senior Officials convened on March 25th to Bodo for a meeting, with the option to participate remotely as well. The official meeting was preceded with an afternoon seminar at Nord Universitet the day before, where attendees were introduced to a range of perspectives of civilian crisis management and emergency preparedness in relation to the High North.
In the official CSO meeting, attendees discussed the agenda, topics ranging from the current situation to proposals for new structures and status updates from the various Working Groups. The presentations from Working Groups provided important insight into current projects and work while presenting an opportunity for attendees to ask clarifying questions. The Barents Regional Youth Council (BRYC) Vice Chair Ole Martin Nygård also presented the attendees with the newly published Barents Youth Program 2025-2027, simultaneously reaffirming the interest of BRYC to be more involved in the work of the CSO and the various Working Groups.
In these challenging times, the importance of cooperation should not be underestimated. There is much to consider when planning for the way forward, and through this meeting, we are one step closer.
