The parliamentarians approved the final conclusions of the meeting, which strongly condemns Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine and other aggressive policies pursued by Russia. Cooperation with Russia had already been frozen in the spring of last year after Russia attacked Ukraine.
The cross-cutting theme of the final conclusions of the conference is the green transition, for which the need for proactive and constructive dialogue with local people, especially with the Sami people is emphasized. Young people and their future in the Barents region were also highlighted separately. Participation and inclusion of young people must be ensured at all levels, and dialogue and cross-border cooperation must be promoted. There is clear need to strengthen and support the current activities of the Barents cooperation further and continue to deepen cooperation on different political levels.
