Ella has studied international relations and environmental politics at Tampere University. Her master thesis focuses on the science-policy interface and the Arctic area. In her thesis, she has examined how scientific communities have been utilized in the process of preparing the Finnish Arctic Policy Strategy. She is eager to learn more about the region and see how Barents cooperation works in practice.
"I am very excited to spend three months at IBS in Kirkenes. This is a great opportunity for me to combine my interests in multilateral cooperation and Arctic issues and see how collaboration works on a day-to-day basis. I am looking forward to learning more about the region and the changes it is currently going through.
As a nature lover Kirkenes is an amazing place to be. I will spend my free time trekking and exploring the surrounding mountains."
