The event was arranged in cooperation between the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, Barents Working Group on Tourism (WGT), Working Group on Economic Cooperation (WGEC), and the Regional Council of Kainuu.
It presented the results of the project "Journey of plastic in the Barents Region", supported through the IBA Project Funding of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. Within the project, a study was conducted by Macon Oy. The aim of the survey was to get a comprehensive picture of the cycle of plastic wastes generated by companies in the Western Barents. Final version of the study will be soon released.
Studies on perspectives of electric aviation in the Western Barents, and cases of sustainable tourism from Northern Finland, Norway and Sweden also attracted attention of the audience.
The seminar was held within the frames of the Finnish Presidency of the Barents Euro-Arctic Council 2021–2023.
